Brevity Assignments: Troubleshooting & FAQs

Quick answers to common questions about managing and completing assignments

Troubleshooting & FAQs

Creating Assignments

  1. Who can create assignments?

    1. Typically:

      1. Organization admins and team admins can create assignments.

      2. Standard members can create assignments but their permissions may be altered based on Organization settings. If you don’t see the Create assignment option, check with your organization admin

  2. Can I assign a role play to admins as well as members? Yes. In Step 1 of creating an assignment, the list includes Organization admins, Team admins, and members. Use the Role filter if you want to intentionally include or exclude admins. See also: How to create an assignment

  3. Can I include multiple role plays in a single assignment? Yes. In Step 2, you can select one or multiple role plays. This is useful when:

    1. You’re rolling out a multi-part training (e.g., Discovery, then Objection Handling, then Negotiation).

    2. You want to give a small set of related scenarios as a weekly practice pack.

    3. You’ll configure requirements and support settings for these role plays in Step 3 (See also: How to create an assignment)

  4. What’s the difference between creating an assignment from Assignments vs. Courses

    1. From Assignments tab:

      1. You start with no pre-selected role play.

      2. Good for combining multiple role plays from different courses or folders.

    2. From Courses tab:

      1. The selected course’s role play is auto-selected in Step 2.
      2. Good for quickly assigning a single, known course to a target audience.
  5. Where do I change requirements (number of conversations, frequency, support mode, etc.)? Those settings are configured in Step 3 – Final details of the Assignment Creator. Refer to: How to Create Assignments - Configuring Assignment Requirements and Support for details.

Completing Assignments

  1. Where do I find my assignment? Click the Assignments tab in the main navigation. Assignments appear in two sections:
    1. Team assignments — created specifically for your team.
    2. All Org assignments — available to everyone in your organization.
    3. Only assignments with an Open status are available for practice. If you don't see the one you're looking for, ask your admin to confirm you've been assigned. Refer to: I Can't Find My Assignment (troubleshooting)
    4. Can I redo a role play? How many times can I practice? Yes — you can practice as many times as you want. There is no limit on the number of attempts. Each attempt is saved as a separate session with its own score, so retaking a role play won't overwrite your previous results.
  2. What happens if my role play gets interrupted or I accidentally close the tab? Your session is saved automatically, even if it ended early. You'll see the incomplete attempt in your session list with a timestamp. Just start a new role play — it will be recorded as a fresh attempt. If you want to explain what happened, leave a note in the feedback box when you complete your next attempt. Refer to: My Role Play Ended Early or Got Interrupted (troubleshooting)
  3. Where do I see my score after completing a role play? Open the assignment, find your session in the past conversations list, and click the Score tab. If the score seems to still be pending or is blank, refresh the page — this usually means the system is still processing your results. For phone-based role plays, you'll receive feedback via SMS immediately, and the session will also appear in the app marked with a phone icon. Refer to: Understanding Scoring and Feedback in Brevity
  4. Can my manager or admin see all of my attempts? Yes. Every session you record is visible to your admin and team managers, including incomplete ones. This is by design — Brevity is a practice tool, not an exam. If an interrupted session is skewing your analytics, your admin can exclude or delete it from your records.
  5. Can I repeat an assignment where I lost a connection? Yes. You can record multiple times on an assignment. While your interrupted session will still show in your recording history, you can simply go record again. Refer to: My Role Play Ended Early or Got Interrupted (troubleshooting).

If you still have questions after following these steps and checks, contact your Brevity support team or your internal enablement owner for help.
