Training Plan Templates
What Are Templates?
A template is a saved copy of a training plan's full structure — chapters, sections, descriptions, completion criteria, and settings. Use templates as a starting point for new plans so you don't have to rebuild the same program from scratch each time.
Templates capture the plan's structure only. Assignment data, learner progress, and enrollment history are not included.
Where to Find Templates
Templates have their own tab in the Training Plans section. Navigate to Training Plans and click the Templates tab (alongside All Training Plans, My Training Plans, and Analytics).
How to Save a Plan as a Template
- Go to All Training Plans.
- Find the plan you want to save as a template.
- Click the three-dot menu (⋯) on the plan row.
- Select Save as Template.
- Update the template name if desired (it defaults to the source plan name).
- Confirm. The template now appears in the Templates tab.
You can save any plan as a template, including plans that are already assigned or have active learners. The template captures the current structure only.
How to Create a Plan from a Template
- Go to All Training Plans and click Create Training Plan.
- In the creation modal, choose From Template (instead of New Blank Plan).
- Select a template from the list.
- Rename the plan if desired.
- Click Create.
The new plan is pre-populated with all chapters, sections, descriptions, and settings from the template. Customize anything you need before assigning it.
Managing Templates
- Open any template from the Templates tab to view or edit its structure.
- Editing a template does not affect plans already created from it. Once a plan is created, it's fully independent of the source template.
- To delete a template, use the three-dot menu and select Delete. Deleting a template removes it from the Templates tab. Plans previously created from that template are not affected.
FAQs
Does editing a template change plans I already created from it?
No. Once a plan is created from a template, it is completely independent. Changes to the template only affect future plans you create from it.
Can I save a template from a plan that's already assigned?
Yes. The template captures the plan structure — not assignment data or learner progress.
What exactly gets copied into the template?
Chapters, sections, descriptions, opening rules, completion criteria, and practice settings. Assignment data and learner progress are not included.
Can I delete a template?
Yes. Deleting a template removes it from the Templates tab. Plans that were previously created from that template are not affected.
