Known Issue: Delay Loading Feedback After Role Play & Crash When Tapping “Next Practice” or "Exit Practice"

Some users previously experienced a long delay when loading feedback after finishing a role play, and in some cases Brevity may crash if “Next practice” is pressed before feedback appears.

What You Might Notice

The following behaviors were observed before the fix was deployed.

• After you finish recording a role play, the feedback screen takes significantly longer than usual to load

• The app may appear stuck or frozen on the post-recording screen while you wait for feedback

• If you tap “Next Practice” or "Exit Practice" before feedback has loaded, Brevity may:

  • Become unresponsive, or

  • Crash/close unexpectedly

Previously Recommended Workaround

These steps were recommended before the fix was deployed and should no longer be necessary.

1. Wait on the feedback screen

   • After you finish recording, stay on the screen and wait for feedback to appear.

   • Avoid tapping “Next practice” or "Exit Practice" until the feedback has fully loaded.

2. If the app seems stuck

   • Wait up to 30–60 seconds to see if the feedback loads.

   • If Brevity becomes completely unresponsive, force close and reopen the app, then continue your practice.

3. What not to do

   • Do not repeatedly tap “Next practice”  or "Exit Practice" if feedback has not appeared yet.

   • Do not rapidly navigate away and back to the role play immediately after recording.

Following these steps should reduce the chance of Brevity crashing while we work on a permanent fix.

What’s Happening (High-Level)

After a role play recording is completed, the feedback process is taking longer than expected to complete. If users try to move on to the next practice before the feedback is ready, the app can get into a bad state that may cause it to freeze or crash. The team is investigating performance and rendering behavior after recording to ensure feedback loads reliably and navigation is safe.

This behavior has been addressed by improving feedback loading and navigation handling after role play completion.

When to Contact Support

Please contact support if:

• You experience repeated crashes when pressing “Next practice,” even after waiting for feedback to load first, or

• The issue persists over multiple sessions or is blocking you from completing assigned role plays, or

• You notice additional unexpected behavior immediately after finishing a role play (e.g., missing progress, obviously incorrect feedback).

When you reach out, include:

• A brief description of what you were doing (which role play, what step)

• Approximate date/time of the issue

• Whether feedback ever appeared before Brevity froze or crashed

• Your device type (web/mobile and browser or OS version, if known)
