Roles Overview

Defining the three types of Brevity roles - Organization Admin, Team Admin, and Member - and their associated permissions

We’re currently transitioning our admin model from Team > Group to Organization > Team > Group, with admin roles becoming Organization Admin and Team Admin. As a result, some language in this article (for example, references to “Team” or “Group”) may not exactly match what you see in the product today. The underlying functionality described here remains the same, even if the labels and hierarchy in your app look slightly different while we complete this transition.

Roles Overview

There are three types of roles that Brevity users can have: Organization Admin, Team Admin, and Member. Further, users can occupy different roles at different levels of the Brevity team. For example, a user can have the member role at the All Organization level and the Team Admin role within a specific group.

When considering how to assign roles, our recommendation is to:

  • Make users Organization Admins when:
    • They need to manage content for all Brevity users.
    • They need to manage user access for all Brevity users.
    • They need access to conversation histories and metrics for all Brevity users.
  • Make users Team Admins when:
    • They need to manage content for their team.
    • They need to manage user access for their team.
    • They need access to conversation histories and metrics for their team.

Organization Admin Role

Organization Admin users can:

  • Create, edit, clone, share, and delete Brevity role plays and assets at all levels in Brevity.

  • Access and manage assets in the Repository at all levels.
  • Manage organization members and roles at all levels.
  • Manage Member-level permissions for Brevity feature access at All Organization and Team levels.
  • Receive the Organization Admin version of Daily and Weekly Digest emails.
  • Perform all Member user functions.

Team Admin Role

Team Admin users can:

  • Create, edit, clone, share, and archive Brevity role plays created by the same Team Admin.
  • Create, edit, close, and delete assignments within their team.
  • Review role play recordings and feedback for Brevity users within their team.
  • Access and manage assets in the Repository at their team level.
  • Manage members and roles within their team.
  • Manage Member-level permissions for Brevity feature access for their team.
  • Receive the Team Admin version of Daily and Weekly Digest emails.
  • Perform all member user functions.

Member Role

When Member-level permissions are Enabled, users can:

  • Conduct role plays via their assignments.
  • View their own role play recording and feedback history.
  • Create and edit courses manually.
  • Create and edit role plays using Ella.
  • Receive the Member version of Daily and Weekly Digest emails.

Note: Member-level permissions can be adjusted on the Settings tab of the Admin portal. To limit Member access to role play creation features and role play libraries, see our article on managing Member-level permissions.
