Troubleshooting Guided Setup, Knowledgebase, Curriculum, and Assignment Creation

If you’re having trouble moving from Guided Setup → Knowledgebase → Curriculum → Assignments, this article walks through the most common issues and how to fix them.

You might be here because:

  • You don’t see Guided Setup

  • Your Knowledgebase is empty after running Guided Setup

  • Your Curriculum looks generic or very sparse

  • You can’t create an assignment from a generated course

Use the sections below that match what you’re seeing.

1. I don’t see Guided Setup

What you’ll notice

  • You expect to see Guided Setup, but:

    • The menu item is missing, or

    • The page shows an error or a blank screen.

Why this usually happens

  • You’re not signed in as an Org Admin.

  • Guided Setup is not yet enabled for your organization.

What to check

  1. Confirm your role

    • Make sure you’re logged in with an account that has Org Admin permissions.

    • If you’re not sure, ask your internal admin or IT team to verify your role.

  2. Ask us to verify enablement

    • If you are an Org Admin and still don’t see Guided Setup, contact Brevity Support via the support center: Brevity Knowledge Base

    • Include:

      • Your organization name

      • Your email

      • A screenshot of your navigation where Guided Setup is missing

What we’ll do

Our team will confirm whether Guided Setup is enabled for your org and switch it on if needed.

2. My Knowledgebase is empty after Guided Setup

What you’ll notice

  • You complete a Guided Setup session, but when you open Knowledgebase, there are no items (no personas, products, etc.).

Why this usually happens

  • The Guided Setup session wasn’t fully completed, and the “Confirm Knowledgebase Generation” step was skipped.

  • There was an unexpected error during Knowledgebase generation.

What to try

  1. Check that you completed Guided Setup

    • Think back to the end of Guided Setup:

      • Did you see an option to Generate Knowledgebase?

      • Did you click Confirm Knowledgebase Generation?

  2. Run or complete Guided Setup again

    • Go to Guided Setup / Intake.

    • If your previous session is still in progress:

      • Complete any remaining steps.

      • Make sure you click Confirm Knowledgebase Generation at the end.

    • Then, open Repository → Knowledgebase and check again.

  3. If it’s still empty

    • Contact Support via Brevity Knowledge Base and include:

      • Your organization name

      • Approximate date/time when you finished Guided Setup

      • Screenshots of:

        • The final Guided Setup screen

        • The empty Knowledgebase view

What we’ll do

We’ll review your Guided Setup session and Knowledgebase status, then either repair the data or help you re-run Guided Setup so your Knowledgebase is populated correctly.

3. Curriculum didn’t generate much or feels too generic

What you’ll notice

  • You only see a small number of courses, or

  • The generated scenarios feel generic, not specific to your real buyers, products, or objections.

Why this usually happens

  • Your Knowledgebase is sparse: there aren’t enough personas, products, or objections.

  • Entries in the Knowledgebase are too generic (for example, “Buyer,” “Software,” or “IT person”).

What to check

  1. Did you complete Guided Setup first?

    • Curriculum works best when you:

      1. Run Guided Setup

      2. Confirm Knowledgebase Generation

      3. Then generate Curriculum

    • If you skipped Guided Setup entirely, your Knowledgebase may be missing key inputs.

  2. Review your Knowledgebase

    • Go to Repository → Knowledgebase.

    • Check:

      • How many personas you have

      • How many products you have

      • How many objections / questions you’ve added

    • Look for:

      • Vague labels such as “Buyer,” “Prospect,” “Software,” or “IT person”

      • Missing core personas (e.g., your primary decision-makers)

      • Missing or very high-level objections

How to improve your Curriculum

  1. Complete a Guided Setup session
  2. Enrich your Knowledgebase

Focus on making entries more specific and closer to real life:

    • Personas

      • Example: instead of “VP Sales,” use
“VP of Sales – Mid-Market North America”

    • Products

      • List actual products / SKUs and a short description of each.

    • Objections & questions

      • Use real phrases you hear on calls (e.g., “We don’t have budget this quarter,” “We already use a similar tool”).

  3. Regenerate Curriculum

    • Once you’ve updated your Knowledgebase, go back to Curriculum and regenerate.

    • Review the new courses:

      • Lock any that you like so they’re preserved.

      • Continue refining your Knowledgebase and regenerating to improve the rest.

How to think about this

When Curriculum feels generic, it usually means “garbage in, garbage out.” The more specific and realistic your personas, products, and objections are in the Knowledgebase, the more tailored and useful your scenarios will be.

4. I can’t create an assignment from a generated course

What you’ll notice

  • The Create Assignment button is disabled or missing,

  • Clicking it doesn’t do anything or shows an error, or

  • When you create an assignment at the Team level, the course you expect is missing from the course dropdown.

Most likely cause

Most of the time, this happens because the course only exists at the All Org level and hasn’t been shared with the Team yet.

Courses generated by Curriculum are created at All Org by default. To assign a course at the Team level, you first need to share that course with the Team.

Other possible causes

  • You don’t have permission to create assignments.

  • The course hasn’t been fully saved/validated.

What to check

  1. Confirm your permissions

    • Make sure you’re signed in as an Org Admin or another role that’s allowed to create assignments.

    • If you’re not sure, check with your internal admin.

  2. Check the course location

    • Switch to your All Org view.

    • Confirm that the course appears in your Courses / Curriculum list at the All Org level.

    • If you’re trying to assign from within a specific Team:

      • Make sure that course has been shared from All Org to that Team.

  3. Share the course to the Team

(Exact steps may vary based on your configuration, but generally:)

    • From All Org, open the course.

    • Use your sharing or visibility controls to share the course with the target Team.

    • Switch back into the Team view.

    • Start creating the assignment again and look for the course in Step 2 (course selection).

  4. Make sure the course is saved

    • Open the course.

    • Click Save.

    • Try Create Assignment again.

If you’re still blocked

If you’ve confirmed:

  • You’re an Org Admin (or equivalent),

  • The course exists at All Org,

  • The course is shared with the correct Team, and

  • The course is saved,

…but the course still doesn’t appear or you can’t create the assignment:

  1. Take:

    • A screenshot or short screen recording showing the issue

    • The name of the course and the Team

  2. Contact Support via: Brevity Knowledge Base

We’ll investigate what’s happening behind the scenes and help you get unblocked.
